Children’s Classes From 3 Years to 5 Years Simply Dance Academy has developed its own program for Preschool children.
We believe that dance for children of this age group should be special and magical and encourage the joy of movement through the use of imagination and mime.
Ballet and Tap are incorporated into this 45 min Nursery class Parents are welcome to stay to watch their child’s first lesson.
We would then hope that the pupil can stay on their own from their second attendance. Pupils are easily distracted and need to know that it is the teacher who is directing them. Many basic steps are covered in a fun way to help the child enjoy learning.
The format of the class evolves as the students gain their confidence with the help of their teacher and Melody Bear. Melody is our class teddy who loves dance with the children. Opportunities for taking Nursery Awards are fun for both students and teachers.
These classes are so popular we often have parents putting their child’s name down at two years of age so they can secure a place once they turn three.
PRE-PRIMARY
Combined Ballet and Tap class of 45 min duration. Pupils are taught to co ordinate movements within the range of their own physical capabilities.FREESTYLE FUSION
Stretching strengthening and aerobic movements, utilising variable popular dance styles, emphasis on rhythm and FUN. Classes last 30 or 45 mins depending on the day, time and age group.Examinations may be taken in the above subjects and the opportunity to perform in our Bi-Annual Shows.
PRIMARY
Separate classes may be taken for Ballet and Tap 30 minutes duration each. Basic dance vocabulary is taught along with formalising and developing technique.FREESTYLE FUSION
Stretching strengthening and aerobic movements, utilising variable popular dance styles, emphasis on rhythm and FUN. Classes are 30 or 45 minutes duration depending on day time and age group.Examinations may be taken in the above subjects and the opportunity to perform in our Bi-Annual Shows.
GRADE 1
Separate classes may be taken for Ballet and Tap 30 minutes duration each.FREESTYLE FUSION AND MODERN JAZZ
Popular genres of modern dance are developed encouraging flexibility and confidence. Classes 45 minutes duration depending on day time and age group.Examinations may be taken in the above subjects and the opportunity to perform in our Bi-Annual Shows.
Pupils move through their grading onto the next level Transition through the school is usually by ability not age group. We believe this is the safest way to train and develop correct skills.

GRADE 2 & 3
Examinations can be taken in Ballet, Tap and Modern Jazz, emphasis on technique precision and developing sensitivity to the musical content.GRADES 4, 5, & 6
Examinations can be taken in Ballet, Tap and Modern Jazz, emphasis on consolidating technical skills, and understanding of the appropriate style and greater sensitivity to varying musical qualities. Developing an ability to work with others and responsive to performing to an audience.

Many Students who are 18 plus go on to Student Teacher Training within the school, and eventually qualify as a dance teacher. Some students get accepted into vocational schools to pursue a performance career.
